Overview

Individuals travelling to Slovakia with the purpose of employment more than 90 days can apply.

Document requirements

Instruction R KONZ No. 7/2023 - Regulation of the Government of the Slovak Republic No. 383/2023 on the interest of the Slovak
Republic to grant national visas for selected groups of third-country nationals in selected jobs in industry

Purpose of stay – performance of employment according to the following statistical classification:
a) 8121999 – equipment operator in the metallurgical and foundry industry,
b) 8141000 - operator of a machine for the manufacture of rubber products,
c) 8211000 – assembly worker (operator) in mechanical engineering,
d) 8219003 – assembly worker in chemical, rubber and plastics production,
e) 8212002 – assembly worker (operator) of electronic devices,
f) 8344000 – forklift operator,
g) 7212002 – metal welder,
h) 7223001 – CNC machine adjuster,
i) 7223003 – metalworker,
j) 7411001 – construction and operation electrician, or
k) 5153003 – handyman.

In order to apply for a D visa according instruction , applicants shall submit:

1. Application form to be filled online https://ezov.mzv.sk/e-zov/
*Fill it with correct information. Once you successfully submit it, print and sign it with BLUE PEN only.

2. valid passport

3. color photo measuring 3x3.5 cm (no filter, no edit)

4. the employment contract, in the case of employment referred to in point (a) to (e), or the contract of employment and a copy of the evidence of formal qualifications required for the performance of the employment - apostilled/superlegalized and translated into Slovak/Czech language by the Slovak/Czech Official translator, in the case of employment referred to in points (f) to (k)

5. health insurance in the territory of the Slovak Republic valid until the entry into force of the employment contract/ Travel insurance for minimum 15 days

6. One way ticket reservation

7. The applicant is listed in the list of employees maintained by the Ministry of Labour, Social things and family ('the list') sent by the Embassy.

8. Fee is euro 35/- paid in cash during the submission of the application.
o The applicant has not previously been granted a national visa under this Regulation.


Photo specifications

Applicants need to submit their Application form with the new photo format, as explained below:

The photo must fulfill the norm specified by the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization).

  • Use plain light-colored background.
  • The photo must be no more than 6-months old.
  • Not tilted picture (portrait style) showing both edges of face clearly.
  • Close up of the head and top of the shoulders so that the face takes up 70–80% of the photograph.
  • Photo in sharp focus and clear.

Photo Size

The photo for each visa applicant submitted must measure:

  • The picture dimensions must be 240 pixels wide by 320 pixels high at least. A smaller picture will be rejected. For instance, a photo being 235 pixels by 320 pixels is not valid.
  • On the other hand, the photo should keep a proportion of 3.5 x 4.5 (width x height) within limits. However, 250 x 340 pixels picture would be valid, but not a 290 x 340 pixels one.
  • Finally, the image weight (size in Kbytes) can never be bigger than 120 Kbytes. Finally, the image weight (size in Kbytes) can never be bigger than 120 Kbytes.

Processing Time

From the date of receipt of application at the Embassy of Slovakia, it takes up to 30 Days working days to process the visa application.
