APPLICANTS FOR SHORT STAY – SCHENGEN VISA

All individuals applying for a Schengen visa for the purpose of business, visit, study, cultural or sports activities, or medical treatment in the Slovak Republic are required to submit the original invitation letter along with all required documents on the day of submission. The invitation letter must be properly notarized by a certified notary public in Slovakia and must consist of all required information.

First-time travelers are advised to submit an invitation verified by the police.

Applicants for a Schengen visa are required to submit original documents as part of their application process.

APPLICANTS FOR NATIONAL D (LONG-STAY) VISA IN CONNECTION WITH A RESIDENCE PERMIT APPLICATION TO BE SUBMITTED IN THE SLOVAK REPUBLIC:

1. Applicants must obtain pre-approval from the Embassy of Slovakia before booking an appointment.
2. BLS cannot accept any application if any required document is missing.
3. All official documents issued by a third country must be apostilled, legalized, or superlegalized, depending on the country that issued the document. Subsequently, the documents must be officially translated into the Slovak language. A list of sworn translators can be found on the website of the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic: Znalci, tlmočníci a prekladatelia – Ministerstvo spravodlivosti SR.
4. The issued documents must not be older than 90 days from the date of issuance (except for Registry Office documents, e.g. marriage certificates and birth certificates, and confirmations from the Labour Office). The documents must also be valid at the time of submission of the residence application to the relevant department of the Foreign Police in Slovakia.
5. Documents must be submitted in the original or as an officially certified copy. Signatures on affidavits, powers of attorney, and lease agreements submitted in proceedings under this Act must be certified.
6. Passport withdrawal: Applicants holding other nationalities and residing outside Egypt must submit their passport along with all original documents to BLS. The passport may be withdrawn one day after submission from the Embassy of Slovakia, subject to prior approval by the Embassy.
7. The diplomatic mission shall decide on an application for the granting of a national visa within 30 days of its receipt. The diplomatic mission may grant the national visa only after obtaining the prior consent of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic.

Passport Withdrawal: Applicants holding other nationalities and residing outside Egypt must submit their passport along with all original documents to BLS. The passport may be withdrawn one day after submission from the Embassy of Slovakia, subject to prior approval by the Embassy. Applicants should inform the Embassy via e-mail at cons.cairo@mzv.sk of their request in advance and wait for the Embassy’s confirmation.
